About Us
Silver Lake Regional Middle School is located in Kingston, Massachusetts. Our student population consists of over 550 students in grades 7 and 8 from the towns of Kingston, Halifax, and Plympton. Our school provides all students with academic programs based on the Massachusetts Common Core Standards.
Each grade is divided into three pods or teams. We strive to make these teams a true community that makes for natural connections that allow students and teachers to build strong relationships. Each pod houses the core subject areas of math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. This configuration helps provide all students a sense of belonging as students are assigned to a team, but also experience classes outside of their team: Music, Art, Technical Education, Health and Wellness, and World Languages including both Spanish and French.
At SLRMS, we believe that student voice and choice motivates and inspires student learning. Educators maintain high standards and expectations and provide opportunities for success with varying entry points to create a safe and joyful environment where applied learning is active and abundant.
Students consistently engage in each area of literacy (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) and cross-curricular learning opportunities which provide exposure and application to experiences beyond the classroom. Above all, students learn through a collaborative model where they connect, teach each other, build stamina in their group work, and grow a mindset in which they can own/lead their own learning.
Educators, administrators, family members, and the community share the responsibility of this work to provide the best education for each and every student.
Our school offers many after-school clubs and activities that continue to build the student’s sense of community and sense of belonging here on campus as they prepare for their high school years across campus.
Lastly, Silver Lake Middle School’s focus encourages and challenges our students to “Think Beyond Yourself (TBY)”. This helps us focus on what is possible and positive when we take care of our school community. We walk our halls with purpose and pride and treat each other with respect which betters our community here at the middle school and beyond.
