PBIS
Hello Dennett Families,
We are excited to share with you our school-wide behavior system that we are implementing! PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support) is a framework to promote and maximize academic achievement and behavioral competence. It is a school-wide strategy for helping all students achieve important social and learning goals. Dennett Elementary School is proud to be a part of this exciting initiative.
As part of the PBIS framework, we have established clear rules for the behaviors we expect in all areas of our school. These expectations are explained in our Dennett ROCKS Matrix, which you will find on the back of your child’s home folder. We will teach and reteach these expectations to the students throughout the school year. Students may earn “Rockstar Tickets” by demonstrating RESPECT, OWNERSHIP, COMMUNITY, KINDNESS, and SAFETY. When this occurs, our staff will verbally and visually acknowledge student’s appropriate behaviors by giving a ticket to be added into their classroom jar for a whole class reward. The filled classroom ticket jars are then added into the school wide ROCKS jar, which when filled, will result in a school wide reward activity or event.
